Born in Rome on 30.11.1940, he started as a student at the St. James school of art in the years 1956-1960 under the leadership of Prof. Ziveri.
Over the years ranging from 1960 to 1969, Cattani continues his artistic research as a self-taught person, and that led him to study, in the period 1969-1978,under the direction of the Master Luigi Balzani.
Alongside his quest for a difficult and painful artistic expression, Cattani faces the extremely demanding study of restoration, collaborating with well known Roman restorers, so that Master Gregorio Sciltian entrusts Cattani with the restoration of all his paintings.
And it is precisely in the art of restoration that Cattani expresses its accuracy, just look at all the paintings and decorations of the Church of St. Girolamo della Carità and the annexed oratory that once belonged to St. Filippo Neri, located in via di Monserrato in Rome, or the decorations of the Opus Dei owned Villa Orsini at Castel Gandolfo, or the University Aula Magna of the Foundation mentioned above, located in Rome, via di St.Girolamo della Carità.
The paintings reproduced here are the results of his human and creative suffered path, and exemplify his inner search in contrast, perhaps, with the precision and clarity with which he deals with the restoration of the masterpieces of art.
Bruno Cattani lives and works in Rome.
